‘Guide to Decoding Disinformation’: New tool helps journalists fight smear campaigns
The Guide to Decoding Disinformation offers a step-by-step approach to identifying the tactics, techniques and procedures behind disinformation campaigns, increasingly used to silence critical reporting and erode public trust in fact-based news. The guide aims to help journalists and fact-checkers preserve the integrity of their work.
These guidelines are not one-size-fits-all as disinformation keeps evolving with new technologies. However, this guide is a starting point to identify the main components of disinformation campaigns targeting journalists and their credibility.
New report offers strategies for fact-checkers to combat online harassment amidst increasing disinformation campaigns
Faktograf and the International Press Institute (IPI) released “I never put my name on the doorbell”, a comprehensive guide and resource for journalists, fact-checkers, and media organizations facing escalating online harassment, particularly during election periods.
The report is the result of extensive research and collaboration between Faktograf, IPI, and other European fact-checking organizations. The findings are based on interviews with key personnel from six leading fact-checking outlets across Europe, detailing their experiences and strategies in the lead-up to and following the 2024 European parliamentary elections.
